Here's the thing- Christmas cookies are so fun to do, but sometimes not as fun with kids haha. My kids were squishing the dough I had just rolled out, licking their fingers and touching my stuff, spilling sprinkles all over the kitchen floor...you get the picture. I'm a perfectionist in the kitchen and it's one of my hardest battles to let my kiddies help me bake- but they love it so much, so I do it. BUT, I think I might've found a way to cheat the system! While you're working on your sugar cookies for the neighbors, let your kids make their own with play dough! It's a total win-win situation!
What You'll Need:
- Playdoh or homemade salt dough (there are tons of recipes on pinterest!)
-A rolling pin
-Christmas cookie cutters
1: Pull out the playdoh or make your own from scratch. Use Christmas colors to make it more festive!
2: Help your child roll out the dough, like you would for sugar cookies.
3: Let them go to town with cutting out their Christmas shapes!
*Activity Notes:
-I you want to make less of a mess on your table, put some wax paper down and roll the dough out on top of that! Super easy clean up.
-If you want to make ornaments out of your child's cut outs, use homemade salt dough and bake them afterwards! Make sure to poke a hole in for a string. My kids also had fun painting theirs after they baked!
