If you're a mom, you've probably folded your fair share of paper airplanes. My boys LOVE them, and want to play them often. My idea going into this post, was how could I turn a fun activity that they already love, into more of a learning experience? Here's what I came up with!
What You'll Need:
-Paper
-Coloring Supplies
-Measuring Tape
1: Give your kids some paper and coloring stuff. Let them decorate however they want!
2: Fold their paper into a paper airplane. (If you don't know how to do it, there are tons of tutorials and pictures online!)
3: Have your child throw the paper airplane.
4: Hold the measuring tape steady and have them pull it out to where their paper airplane landed.
5: Hold the measuring tape in place, and have your child point to and read the number of how far their airplane went.
6: Repeat 3-5 as many times as your child stays interested!
*Activity Notes:
-This is a perfect activity to practice saying numbers! Instead of just saying "1-2-8" have them practice saying "one hundred twenty eight". They'll pick it up quick!
- It would be fun practice to count by tens! Have your kid find each progressing ten and say them out loud as they go.
-If you have multiple kids, have them throw them at the same time and do a race!
