Spring has officially sprung! And despite the 38 degree weather we had the other day, we are here for it!
In celebration of this colorful new season, we're excited to try some springtime themed activities and crafts!
Today we did a counting exercise that was florally fantastic! --I know, I know.. you're welcome! We made little pink flowers and used their petals to practice counting. It was super quick and easy and had us dreaming of warmer weather!
Materials needed:
-Green popsicle sticks (or regular wooden popsicle sticks painted/colored green)
-Green pipe cleaners
-Colored paper
-Glue stick
Grab a pipe cleaner and wrap it around the popsicle stick, twisting and shaping it to resemble leaves on a stem.
Cut circles out of a yellow piece of paper and glue each circle at the top of each popsicle (acting as the pistil for the flower).
Next, cut out the petals. You can use any color you'd like or have, we used pink for ours.
Use a pen or marker to write various numbers on each flower's pistil (yellow circle).
Have your child count out and glue the appropriate amount of petals for each numbered flower.
*Activity Notes*
You can totally freehand each of the pistils and petals, but one thing I found that made it easy was to use a jar lid or something to trace the circles to ensure they were all perfectly round and consistent. For the petals, I drew and cut one out to start with and then used that one to trace the rest.
