Turkey Counting

Updated: Nov 16, 2020

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and this activity is such a fun and festive way to get your preschooler counting!

What you'll need:

-Craft feathers (you can find these at a dollar store, craft store, or even just a department store)

-Crayons

-Elmer's glue

-Numbered turkeys (print for FREE at the bottom of this post!)

-Your cute preschooler of course!

These craft feathers were a little long for our turkeys, so I cut them about an inch or two shorter. And we only had "glitter" Elmer’s glue (which is a huge hit around here), but the original, classic Elmer's glue works just as great!

This activity is awesome because it's a variety of tasks all packed into one (the longer my kids are occupied, the better)!

So first you can have your preschooler color the cute turkeys!

Next comes the counting! Have your preschooler say the number on each turkey's belly. Together, count out the number of feathers each turkey needs. This is the way we did it, but depending on how well your child knows their numbers, you can adjust and help them as needed.

You can also name the colors of the feathers and make it a color practice activity too!

Next glue the feathers above each turkey, creating a colorful fan behind them.

And there you go! Easy peasy and super fun! Enjoy counting with your little turkey!
